Kevin Federline continues to speak publicly about his ex-wife, Britney Spears, and her relationship with their two sons: 16-year-old Preston and 15-year-old Jayden.
For a bit of background, Kevin was granted sole custody of the boys in 2008 after Britney was placed under strict guardianship, which saw her life and money under the control of her father, Jamie Spears, and a group of lawyers.
However, Kevin and Britney—whose turbulent three-year marriage ended the year prior to guardianship—agreed to a settlement in which she would receive two and one visitation a week.
Meanwhile, Britney consistently gave her $20,000 a month in child support, all while covering their children’s school, insurance, and clothing expenses. In 2018, Kevin asked for these payments to be increased, infuriating fans online.
Britney’s guardianship, which she has publicly called “abusive”, was not terminated until November 2021. Amid the heated legal battle to end the arrangement, the singer told the judge that she felt her father should be in prison for his treatment of her, before also claiming that her “family Entirely” refused to help her when she was forced to “donate tons of blood a week” and get an IUD against her will.
Just last month, Kevin sparked a major backlash after publicly discussing the controversial topic of conservatism and Britney’s complicated relationship with Preston and Jayden in a heartbreaking interview with the Daily Mail.
The DJ claimed that while the teens were “happy” with Britney, they chose not to see her and thus “made the decision” not to attend her wedding to longtime partner Sam Asgari in June. “The boys decided they don’t see her now,” he said. “It has been a few months since they saw her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding.”
Kevin went on to claim that this was because they were unhappy that Britney frequently posts minimally censored nude photos, which she previously said she shares in an effort to regain her power after feeling constrained by a 13-year guardianship.
“I’m trying to explain to [Preston and Jayden]”Look, maybe that’s just another way she’s trying to express herself,” Kevin said. But that does not detract from the reality of what he does to them. It’s tough…I can’t imagine what it feels like to be a teenager having to go to high school.”
Furthermore, Kevin appears to have dismissed Britney’s earlier remarks about the “abusive” conservatism, saying he believed the legal arrangement “saved her”.
“I saw this guy [Jamie Spears] This really cares, really cares about his family and wants everything to be okay,” he said. “When Jimmy took over, things went right. He saved her life.”
Kevin’s comments were quickly met with fierce criticism online, with fans questioning why he was publicly talking about Britney’s guardianship, her father, and her relationship with her children.
In fact, both Britney and her husband, Sam, have issued statements of their own publicly condemning Kevin. “It saddens me to hear that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children,” the pop star wrote in a raw message on Instagram. “As we all know, raising teenage boys is not at all easy for anyone.”
“I am interested in the fact that the reason depends on my Instagram,” she continued. “It was a long time before Instagram. I gave them everything. Just one word: Painful.”
Soon, Britney shared another lengthy post discussing her relationship with her children in more detail, claiming that Preston and Jayden were “distasteful” when they visited her.
She wrote before claiming, “I know it’s hard to deal with teens at this age…but come on, there’s rudeness and then there’s being nasty.” And locks the door.
But in response, Kevin sparked more controversy as he hastily shared a series of videos of Britney arguing with her sons. I can’t just sit back and let my sons accuse like that after what they’ve been through. As much as it hurts us, we as a family have decided to post these videos.”
The videos, which appear to have been taken without Britney’s knowledge, were removed from the platform shortly after they were posted. Soon, the singer’s lawyer, Matthew Rosengart, suggested that Kevin might have broken the law by publicly posting videos Britney was unaware of her shooting, given that California is a bipartisan consent state.
Despite all this, Kevin has now decided to speak publicly about Britney’s care and relationship with Preston and Jaden again, in an upcoming interview with Australian news show 60 minutes.
“I still feel bad for her,” Kevin said. clip preview Posted on Wednesday. Apparently referring to his marriage to Britney, he later added, “It was cool…until it wasn’t.”
With the video going on to indicate that Kevin “wanted to put things right about their boys’ decision,” the DJ said, “Boys, boys, boys. I had to worry about them. I couldn’t participate.”
“It’s been a few months since they actually did it [seen] He added, while the video described the whole situation as a “family feud.”
The full interview is set to air on Sunday, but fans have criticized Kevin for bringing public attention back to his and Britney matters since the preview was released.
“I still feel bad for her.” Why would she do this? What’s the point of this, you know very well that she doesn’t want all of this to be in the public’, one person Wrote.
Others went on to accuse Kevin of “exploiting” Britney’s trauma for money, questioning why he’s now chosen to speak publicly about their strained relationship.
One Twitter user “won’t have a family ‘conflict’ if the unemployed ex didn’t talk about her, using her shock for money” Wrote.
Britney, who is not currently active on Instagram, has not publicly acknowledged her upcoming meeting with Kevin. However, we will make sure to let you know if you do.
