What is the story of “The Dahmer” from Netflix?
“Dahmer” exposes the heinous and unreasonable crimes committed by the serial killer from 1978-1991. According to Netflix, the series centers around disenfranchised victims and their communities affected by systemic racism and the institutional failure of the police that allowed one of America’s most notorious serial killers to continue a killing spree in full view of more than a decade.
Emmy Award-winning producer, director, and writer Ryan Murphy created the show with Ian Brennan. Murphy and Brennan also serve as executive producers for the show.
Murphy’s previous shows include “Popular,” “Glee,” “Nip/Tuck,” “American Horror Story,” “Scream Queens,” “Pose,” “American Crime Story,” “9-1-1,” and “9- 1-1: Lone Star” and “Ratched”.

Who was the first victim of Jeffrey Dahmer in Ohio?
Dahmer’s murder spree began on June 18, 1978, after he picked up 18-year-old Stephen M. Hicks, who was cruising along a road in Ohio after a prom. He drove the young man to Dahmer’s house under the guise of having a little beer. When Hicks tried to leave, Dahmer killed him, dismembering the body and scattering the remains around his yard.
Dahmer moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he killed another 16 people.
Police arrested him in July 1991 after a handcuffed man fled his apartment, where officers later found human skulls and other remains.
Two patrolmen were fired after it was revealed that officers returned a drugged 14-year-old boy to Dahmer’s apartment after an escape attempt. Dahmer convinced them that the young man was his drunken friend. When the police left, Dahmer killed the teen.
Dahmer confessed to 17 murders and was sentenced to life imprisonment. A colleague beat him to death in 1994 at Columbia Correctional Institution in Wisconsin. He was 34 years old.
How did Evan Peters look for his role playing Jeffrey Dahmer?
In a 2021 interview with Variety, Peters explained his search for the role of the killer.
“You read a lot, you watch a lot, you see a lot, and at a certain point you have to say, ‘Okay, that’s enough,'” Peters said. You can have all the backstory you want, but at the end of the day we’re not making a documentary.
“It’s more about keeping the idea and the line through why you’re telling the story and always making that your guiding light. But there’s a lot of material for Dahmer that I think is very important to make it really original.”
Peters won an Emmy in 2021 for his supporting role in the HBO mini-series “Mare of Easttown,” a crime drama starring Kate Winslet as a Pennsylvania detective.
“Dahmer” is the latest Hollywood movie about a serial killer.
Coincidentally, Peters appeared as the opposite of Dahmer in the fifth season of Murphy’s “American Horror Story” on FX in 2015-2016. Actor Seth Gabel played Dahmer in a supernatural story about a Los Angeles hotel where the ghosts of serial killers, including John Wayne Gacy, Aileen Wuornos and Richard Ramirez, congregate. Peters played the evil bar owner.
