Bryce Dallas Howard under pressure to lose weight for ‘Jurassic World’ movies

Bryce Dallas Howard revealed that the executives behind the “Jurassic World” trilogy had issues with her body and her weight.

“How do I say this… [I’ve] “They were asked not to use my normal body in the movies,” the actress, who played Claire Deering in the film, told Metro in an article published Thursday.

The actress, whose stunts were performed in films, added that it was the director Colin Trevorrow who defended her.

And in the third movie, it was actually because there were so many women represented, it was something that Colin felt very strongly about protecting me…because the conversation came up again, ‘We need to ask Bryce to lose weight.’ “

She continued, “He was like, ‘There are a lot of different types of women on this planet and there are a lot of different types of women in our movie’ and I did a lot of stunts that wouldn’t have been possible if I had been on a diet.”

The “Help” star, 44, said she was “delighted” to be able to perform stunts with her body “to full force” and hopes it will push other directors to focus less on women’s weight and more on their ability.

Howard stars in the star-studded film alongside DeWanda Wise, Chris Pratt, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill.

Wise, who was also in the interview, agreed with her co-star and talked about the pressures she felt to change her body while playing Kayla Watts in the sci-fi movie.

It’s always a thing,” Wise, 38, told the outlets. “There has been a lot of resistance to Kayla having muscle, to what it means to be a woman, and to looking like a woman. It’s just every aspect, it’s impossible and relentless.”

Although the actresses said there were “more women than men” who starred in the film, Howard says it’s still “uncommon” to see sets with this kind of variety.

The actress-turned-director has hinted at the pressures she faced to lose weight due to her role in “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” five years ago.

She told us in 2017, “I do a lot of training for it because I gained 35 pounds for Black Mirror. So I’m preparing to be a little bit more athletic.”

Howard gained weight on the popular Netflix series in order to play a woman with an eating disorder.
